Putting pen to paper can be intimidating, so we'll approach our work from an "expressive writing" foundation, meaning personal writing without regard to spelling, punctuation, verb agreement, or other technical aspects. We will circuit through various exercises, lean into our creativity, and nurture ourselves.
No experience is necessary, and all genres are welcome. Please come with an idea, an outline, or even a work in progress, as well as your preferred writing utensils.
Recently arrived in our beloved Lake Claire from fabled Los Angeles, Lisa Vitello is a creative tour de force. She is a filmmaker, a lauded director of stage productions and, with an MFA in Creative Writing, an experienced writer in several genres. Her global travels influence her work as a cultural competence and diversity expert, educator, and strategist; she is also the founder and Executive Director of CultureBrave (www.culturebrave.org), and is poised to launch a writing non-profit serving marginalized teens by year's end.
Join her for this one-day workshop in which attendees will go through various writing and self-reflection exercises, within the safe space of an artistic community. The goal upon completion is to have a viable first draft of a short piece of literature, and for participants to gain confidence in their writing skills.
