Currently the Board of Directors meets once a month from 10:30 am-12:30 pm. The meetings are open to interested neighbors and friends. Dynamic committees emerge from standing and changing needs of the Trust and benefit from the energies and interests of those involved. Please consider coming and sharing your passion with us. Meet some of the current board members and friends below.
I am Bernard Spenle and a member of the Board of Directors of the Land Trust. I have lived in the neighborhood since 1984 and have always enjoyed the special feel of this corner of the world. As a Board member, I am working, with others, toward renewable energy and sustainable water usage for the LandTrust.
I have lived in Lake Claire since 1993 with my wife Dawn and our family of cats, dogs, and sometimes chickens. I am the author of a novel, Free Ralph!, two collections of poetry, and a series of essays on environmental awareness. As a Land Trust Board member, my focus is urban sustainability and community-building. Read my essay about it here.
I have lived on Arizona Ave. for 25 years and in Lake Claire since 1978. My dear deceased husband, Mark Sanger, and I loved raising our daughters where they had the Land Trust as an extended backyard to run safely and freely, where they joined in potluck dinners and other activities so they learned to know their neighbors. My involvement with the Land Trust has been part of what makes me love this neighborhood. My interest is finding ways to involve neighbors so they also are thankful about where they live and can enjoy the warmth and feeling of belonging that comes with sharing life with neighbors. I also want to work to see that the Land Trust and surrounding land is protected by a conservation easement so future generations will enjoy the open spaces that we worked to create.
