Jerry Garcia (Aug. 1, 1942 – Aug. 9, 1995) is loved and remembered around the world by millions of “Deadheads” and other music lovers. Most famous for his contributions to the San Francisco psychedelic music scene, he was also instrumental in bringing country and rock music together through his proficiency in banjo-picking and pedal steel guitar (via jeff). He is also the granddaddy of the “jam band” phenomenon, influencing groups as diverse as Phish and the Dave Matthews Band. His impact on the world continues to ripple out 18 years after his death.
