A Musical Tribute . . .
We’ll be Jerry Jammin’ at the Land Trust again this summer, Saturday, July 28, from 4:00 to 11:00 pm. Live at “The Mark” stage and amphitheater, our fourth annual Jerry Jam fundraiser is a tribute to the life and music of Jerry Garcia, the late singer, songwriter and lead guitarist for the Grateful Dead. Three live bands will perform Dead (songs) – Webster Humpage, The High Mountain Ramblers, and Swami Gone Bananas. The Gorilla Grill will be serving food and beverages. Gates open at 3:00.
Jerry Garcia (Aug. 1, 1942 – Aug. 9, 1995) is loved and remembered around the world by millions of “Deadheads” and other music lovers. Most famous for his contributions to the San Francisco psychedelic music scene, he was also instrumental in bringing country and rock music together through his proficiency in banjo-picking and pedal steel guitar. He is also the granddaddy of the “jam band” phenomenon, influencing groups as diverse as Phish and the Dave Matthews Band. His impact on the world continues to ripple out 17 years after his death.
